Academic
PTSP Transfer Survival Guide - Exactly as it says on the tin, this is a short but handy guide that details where to study, how to get a mentor to counsel you, and where to get financial assistance.
The Secrets to UCLA - Similar to above, this presentation shows even more spots around campus where you can study, get more academic resources, and details the process of getting an OSA mentor.
BruinWalk - This is the UCLA equivalent of ratemyprofessor. Here, you can look up what professors you'll have for the upcoming quarter and see if they'll be the write fit for you, based on reviews left by former students. In addition, you can also buy and sell textbooks and look for apartments around campus. The site is also occasionally updated with UCLA events.
UCLA Transfer Students @ Facebook - The UCLA transfer community on facebook is always ready to help a fellow student in need. If you're ever confused or unsure about anything whether it's housing, financial aid, parking, what classes to pick, how transfer orientation works, or where to get more resources, feel free to post in this group and it will almost guranteed be answered by fellow transfers and even Heather Adams, the new Transfer Lady!
Transfer Student Support at the Bruin Resource Center - An especially important resource to have as a UCLA Transfer. The site includes Frequently Asked Questions, information about various transfer and transition programs and most notably, a Transfer Timeline that will be especially helpful in planning your next few years at UCLA.
JSTOR - A digital library of academic journals, books, and primary sources. It's accesible to any student on UCLA campus and is especially handy when you can't find any more scholarly sources elsewhere.
UCLA Library Catalog - When you've run out of scholarly internet sources to use on your papers, the various libaries at UCLA will sometimes hold even more valuable information. In order to find the books you're looking for however, you'll need to acquaint yourself with this catalog. Simply type in what you're looking for and when you've found a selection of books you want to check out, find them in the libraries using their call number and bring them to the check out stations. Be sure to return them on time!
UCLA Library Traffic - Need a place to study during midterms or finals but not sure if the libraries are already packed? This handy site let's you know which libraries are crowded and which will still have plenty of room for you. At times people will even leave comments as to which floors of which libraries are available.
Financial
FAFSA - Pretty much the go-to website for financial aid. If you haven't already, apply for Federal Student Aid at this site before March 2nd before the academic school year and you might be elgible for grants, loans, and work-study to help you pay off the hefty UCLA tuition.
UCLA Work Study Search - (Only accesible to UCLA students and only available to those who apply for work-study) If your financial aid pacakge includes work study, use this site to look through the numerous campus jobs offered to you. Most jobs don't require previous working experience and usually start at around $10 an hour. There are many different jobs to choose from including working in departmental offices, helping with research, working at the dorms, and even as guards for the two campus museums.
UCLA Internship Search - (Only accesible to UCLA students) Same as above, but for internships. Unlike the work study search however, these internships aren't limited to UCLA campus and can be found all over LA County. You can also choose what area or field you'd like to intern in. Many of these internships are paid and give you valuable experience, no matter what field you're in.
The UCLA Scholarship Resource Center - There are plenty of opportunities out there to get free money to pay off tuition, especially in the form of scholarships. You'll find through this site that there are scholarships for pretty much everything ranging from departmental scholarships to national and situational scholarships. Be sure to look through the database, there might be more scholarships for you than you think!
Asian American Studies Center Scholarships - Similar to above, this site also gives information about various scholarships, but pertaining more to the Asian-American community.

Samahang Pilipino - "Samahang Pilipino is a multi-faceted student organization that addresses the needs of the Pilipin@ and Pilipin@-American community at UCLA and in the greater Los Angeles area. Samahang’s mission is to develop student leaders who will organize, advocate, and provide services for themselves and the community, while strengthening relationships with other communities on and off campus. We act to create opportunities to dialogue about diversity and foster cultural empowerment."

SPACE - "Samahang Pilipino Advancing Community Empowerment engages at-risk, historically underrepresented, under served high school and community college students, supporting their efforts toward academic and personal achievement."

SPEAR - "Samahang Pilipino Education and Retention is one of five student-run, student-initiated projects within the Student Retention Center (SRC). It was started to address the low retention rate of Pilipin@ students at UCLA. The Pilipin@ community has continually made the effort to address droupout rates and ensure the academic success of all UCLA students since 1989."

SPCN - "Samahang Pilipino Cultural Night started in 1977, largely inspired by the culturally-relevant and educational Pilipino Far West Conventions held throughout the West Coast during the early 70s and 80s. On the UCLA campus, Samahang Pilipino's Cultural Night component has created cultural presentations that pay homage to historical events and highlight current issues affecting our community."
Samahang Modern - "Samahang Modern is UCLA's premiere hip-hop dance team, stemming from the Samahang Pilipino organization on campus! Originally created to perform at UCLA's annual Pilipino Culture Night, we've started to perform and compete off campus, having made appearances at large venues such as Prelude, Vibe, Fusion, Ultimate Brawl and Maxt Out. At UCLA we've shown our bruin pride at events such as Dance Marathon, Spring Sing, Beat 'SC Rally, Blue and Gold Week, Battle Royale, and Men and Women's Basketball, to name a few. Dedicated to dance, professionalism, family, and cultural roots, Samahang Modern is comprised of a variety of individuals. Different styles, different backgrounds, different levels of experience in dance, different passions. What we love so much about this team is that it's just a group of quirky kids who bring more than just their dancing to the team. Tinig Choral - "Tinig, which means “voice” in Tagalog, is a student-initiated, student-run, Pilipino-American Chorale Group under the Ethnomusicology Department of UCLA. Tinig strives to celebrate Pilipino culture through traditional chorale music. Formed in 1988 under the student direction of August Espiritu and Rex Sampanga, Tinig (affectionately known as choral) came together for the purpose of singing the Pilipino and American National anthems in UCLA's annual Pilipino Cultural Night. As of Winter 2003, under signatories Art Ambrosio, Richelle Chuatuan, and Amalia Millar, Tinig has become an officially-recognized student organization, sponsored by the Ethnomusicology Department of UCLA. "
PREP - "Pilipino Recruitment and Enrichment Program (PREP)'s main goals are to encourage students to pursue higher education, promote community consciousness, increase cultural awareness and foster leadership skills. In order to achieve these goals as well as engage students and staff in active participation, we focus on artistic activities to motivate and inspire. Together, as we explore the elements of music, photography, paint, film and more, we hope to develop stronger youth whom are eager and prepared to further their education."
Pilipinos for Community Health - "Established in 1989, Pilipinos for Community Health (PCH) at UCLA has constantly advanced its efforts to educate and provide health services to the socio-economically disadvantaged community of the Greater Los Angeles area. While addressing health issues that are prominent in the Pilipino community, we also acknowledge that these health problems are common in many other underserved communities, and so we choose to serve every recipient, regardless of nationality. With the health field as its outlet for service, PCH serves various groups at the university, local, and international levels. Through its three main components of (1) Community Outreach, (2) Preventive Health, and (3) Pre-Health Advising and Mentorship, PCH aims to help the community make wise health decisions and strives to provide members with valuable learning experiences."
Pilipinos in Engineering - "P.I.E. is a Pilipino engineering organization that is dedicated to inspiring academic greatness in its members by utilizing the engineering and Pilipino communities in cultural, academic, creative, networking, and social aspects of student life."
Kappa Psi Epsilon - "The sisterhood of Kappa Psi Epsilon is focused on the enrichment of each member's life, through knowledge of culture and history. Most importantly, we are ardently committed to the discovery of internal strength. To achieve such a goal, we devote and channel our energy, time and effort through the promotion of academics, community action, Pilipino cultural enrichment and awareness, and overall sisterhood. By learning about our struggles, triumphs and failures, past as well as present, we will fill ourselves with the wisdom to become better thinkers, better leaders, and better individuals. And in spite of being Pilipina-based, we enthusiastically welcome people of all ethnicities."
Theta Delta Beta - "Theta Delta Beta cultivates and celebrates the intellectual, imaginative, and humanitarian promise of each brother and sister in a family that seeks to practice mutual respect, embrace diversity, and encourage education. Gamma Chapter also has a Lil Sis Program which only expands our meaning of family."
Zeta Phi Rho - "Zeta Phi Rho, Inc. is a multicultural fraternity with a diverse group of members of different characters that are committed to developing members’ academics, upholding the gentlemen image, contributing to society, realizing leadership potential, and heavily emphasizing a strong brotherhood both within chapters and amongst other chapters."

Free and For Sale - College students in general live on tight budgets and UCLA is definitely no exception. To ease the pressure on your wallet a little however, feel free to check out this handy facebook group where people are able to sell their old and unwanted items for others to buy. As the title implies, many of the things sold here are either free or comparitively cheap.
